Multi-author Halloween event

Details

Join us for a Halloween-themed kids' event with local children's authors Jessixa Bagley, Ben Clanton, Michaele Razi, and Rachel Michelle Wilson! Come dressed in your best costumes, participate in fun activities, and kick off Halloweek right!

ABOUT THE BOOKS:
JAZZY THE WITCH IN BROOM DOOM, by Jessixa Bagley
In her town full of witches, Jazzy’s always been a little bit different. She’s not excited about magic. She forgets the steps to spells. And even though her parents run the town’s broom shop, she doesn’t want to fly.

Then, one day, she discovers what she was born to do: cycling! Now she just has to find a way to get a bicycle…and learn how to ride it. But will her new passion come between her and her best friend—and possibly get her in big trouble?

A SUPER SCARY NARWHALLOWEEN, by Ben Clanton
Dive into three new stories that are sure to fright and delight! Narwhal loves Halloween — it's a great excuse to dress up in a spooky and silly costume, like a ghost, a mermaid, a banana or maybe even Marlow the Mustachioed Moose. It's a skeleTON of fun!

Jelly isn't dressing up, though — he's a little scared of this time of year, and would prefer to hunker down in a hidey-hole until Halloween is over. But when a scary sea monster makes an appearance and swallows Narwhal (gulp!), can Jelly, with the help of some super friends, pluck up the courage to save his best bud?

FRANK THE SEVEN-LEGGED SPIDER, by Michaele Razi
Frank loves being a spider, especially the part that involves having eight glorious legs. But one morning Frank wakes up missing a leg. One of his friends exclaims, "I barely recognize him!" Another friend asks, "Are you still a spider, Frank?" Is he still a spider? Frank doesn't know. A funny and heartfelt quest filled with surprises ensues as Frank searches for his leg and the answer to his identity.

DRAKE THE SUPER-EXCITED, OVEREAGER, IN-YOUR-FACE SNAKE, by Michaele Razi
Drake is a very friendly snake, who loves to play with his friends, but he can be a little over-eager and disruptive when he joins in their play. He also loves to give big hugs, but he doesn’t always ask first, and his friends don’t always like to be hugged.

When his friends become too uncomfortable with his hugs and no longer want to play with him, Drake realizes he needs to find other ways to approach showing his affection and engaging in play.

TO CATCH A GHOST, by Rachel Michelle Wilson
Bringing nothing to show and tell is like wearing shoes without socks.
It stinks.
So, when all you got is nothing, you need to catch yourself a something.
And if you’ve got gumption, that something could be a ghost.

Show-and-tell isn’t for the faint of heart, so grab your camera, flashlight, and backpack -- it’s time to catch yourself a ghost! Once you find a good one, spend some quality time together. This will provide all the information you need to build the perfect ghost trap. It will also probably complicate things. So, when the moment finally arrives, you may be confident you can catch a ghost...but can you catch a friend?
